Robert Malm

Managing Partner

Robert Malm is a native of the Washington Capital Area. As a second-generation builder, born and raised in Bethesda, Robert began learning the craft of homebuilding from his father at an early age. Since co-founding the company in 2007, Robert has helped lead BeaconCrest to successfully design, build, and sell in some of the Washington area’s finest neighborhoods amidst an ever-changing and demanding market. His strong background acquired through “growing up” in the business combined with his Building Construction and Real Estate degree from Virginia Tech give him the practical skill set that has helped the company maintain profitability and success since its inception. In addition to his responsibilities as a Managing Partner at BeaconCrest, Robert is also a Partner and continues to work at Craftmark Homes.

Derek Huetinck

Managing Partner

Derek Huetinck began in the homebuilding business at Craftmark Homes during the summers while he was attending law school at American University. After completing his law degree, Derek opted to forgo a legal career began working at Craftmark Homes full time where he remained until co-founding BeaconCrest Homes in 2007. Since 2007, Derek has helped guide BeaconCrest to become one of the D.C. Metro Area’s largest and most successful high end residential builders. What Derek loves most about homebuilding is being able to take clients visions and ideas for their home and turn them into tangible reality.

Ken Malm

Senior Partner

Ken Malm began learning the building industry as a teenager from the ground up. Ken continued in the building industry after college where he rose through the ranks of several building companies. In 1991, Ken started his own company, Craftmark Homes. Since the early 1990s, the Craftmark Group, which is comprised of both Craftmark Homes and BeaconCrest Homes, has built between 300 and 600 homes per year ranking it nationally in the top 100 homebuilders and regionally in the top 50 privately held businesses. Ken continues to serve as president and managing principal of the Craftmark Group in addition to working with his son and nephew at BeaconCrest Homes.
